Do I need the internet?
No. ApocOS runs entirely offline — maps, AI, knowledge and tools all work with the cable unplugged. A connection is only ever needed if you choose to refresh data or add models, then you carry it all offline again.
Will it run on my computer?
ApocOS Go and Drive boot on almost any 64-bit Intel/AMD or ARM64 PC or laptop with UEFI — pick the matching build. ApocOS Node is its own mini-PC, so there’s nothing to be compatible with. The AI model is sized to the hardware and upgradeable with a single command.
Which AI model do I get?
Each tier ships with a local AI model matched to its hardware — ApocOS Go a lean 1.5B, ApocOS Drive a 3B, and ApocOS Node a stronger 7B, GPU-accelerated on its built-in Radeon graphics. That’s a floor, not a ceiling: a bigger model is one command away whenever you run ApocOS on more capable hardware.
Is it a device or software?
Both — ApocOS is software, sold ready-to-run on hardware, in three tiers. ApocOS Go is a bootable USB stick (plug into your own PC, nothing to install). ApocOS Drive is the whole system pre-installed on an NVMe SSD in a pocket USB enclosure — persistent, and boots on any UEFI machine. ApocOS Node is a mini-PC with it installed, ready out of the box.
What’s in the UK Data Pack?
Full UK offline maps and terrain, a reference knowledge library, first-aid / medical and repair guides, and resource data — water, food, shelter, fuel, power and communications — all preloaded and searchable.
Does it do GPS?
Yes — most USB GPS receivers work: plug one in and ApocOS shows your live position on the offline map, follows you as you move, and can set it as your home point, with no phone signal. Bring your own, or add one to your order as an eBay option. Maps and routing also work without GPS.
Can I keep my changes, or install it?
It depends on the tier. ApocOS Go runs live in memory — nothing is written to your PC — so install it to a disk when you want it permanent. ApocOS Drive and ApocOS Node are already installed and fully persistent: your observations, bookmarks, added regions and models are saved and survive reboots.
Can I use it outside the UK?
The preloaded data is UK-focused, and we say so plainly. You can add other regions and models whenever you have a connection, then take them offline. Wider regional packs are on the roadmap.
Is there more than one model?
Yes — three tiers, all shipping now: ApocOS Go (a bootable USB stick), ApocOS Drive (the system pre-installed on a persistent NVMe SSD in a USB enclosure), and ApocOS Node (a ready-to-run mini-PC). It’s the same system throughout — pick the hardware that suits you.
